Boar with Marlin 375
I killed another hog this morning at 6:30 using my Marlin 375 chambered in 375 Win using my TLC379-235-RF.

Re: Boar with Marlin 375
I shot it twice. First time right through the heart, it knocked it off its feet and it was doing all its running on its side. It started to sling its head to get leverage to stand and honestly I thought that would run it out of steam. I had chambered another round and was just watching it and durn if it didn't get back up and get it towards the brush. I brought the gun up, acquired the hog and put a another chunk of lead right between its shoulder blades on the spine. It went down in a heap. Those flat nose bullets make quite a slap on a quiet morning! The first shot was a 70 yards, the second at 80.akuser47 wrote:Nice work Did it drop pretty fast?
In this photo it is the cartridge on the left.

Those are some nice looking cartridges. This morning I saw a one antlered buck chasing a doe across my back yard. It had 5 points on the left and nothing at all on the right. The rut must be on. Gun season opens the Monday after thanksgiving.

Lots of powder room in there. Our company four pointer keeps coming back for squirrel corn. Kilt anothy tree rat today. $30

Really nice, I really like the way you have the Marlin set up, seems like the light handy rifle that is nice to take afield. And it appears to heave a nice chunk of lead downrange.

Re: Boar with Marlin 375
The Marlin 375 has been a favorite of mine for a long time. One of the problems of having a lot of rifles is that some get shoved aside for awhile. I hunted with it on the five day Aransas NWR hunt I just finished so I need to take it completely apart and clean everything and all surfaces. I took it because it is a bit of a beater, it has had a lot of use, and the constant 98% humidity and rain causes rust immediately.
I have a XS Sight System for it; scout scope base and Ghost Ring but the scope and front sight height are not right. I need to get with them and see what can be done about getting that on. With the limited visibility on the Refuge, I would have just used the XS Ghost Ring. Of course it didn't matter much what I took, I saw two very large feral hogs and being 1,217 yards from the truck, didn't feel much like messing with them.

My friend killed a large boar while hunting my place yesterday evening. 100 yard shot with a Rem 700 chambered in 308 Win.
