Laser Bore Sight , First Impressions
1. The pouch is not the ideal way to store especially the batteries.
2. Sight is easy to insert in the chamber using just your fingers. Since there
isn't a head stamp a cleaning rod was needed to push the sight out of the
chamber. Not the easiest thing to remove but not impossible.
3. Neither the Red Dot or Laser shows on this photo but they are there !
4. Actually the Red Dot was brighter than the Laser surprisingly. Initially the
Laser seemed very bright when shining on an inside wall. Seemed to fade
rather quickly outdoors ?
It wasn't too difficult to align the Red Dot to the Laser even for me so that
was definitely a plus.
So far so good, the real test will come with a trip to the range to re-zero
the Red Dot. Then it will be replaced with the new Scout Scope and we'll
start over. I'm thinking I'll put the Red Dot on the For Sale posts but not
any time soon, it's too hot to do the range test.

Re: Laser Bore Sight , First Impressions
Sorry, I should have spoken up earlier. It's a good idea to check the alignment of the bore sight at different clockings. I spun mine until I found the high spot, which for me was the best alignment with the iron sights. The laser spot did move a few inches as I rotated around the clock. I marked "TOP" on the bore sight so I always put it in the chamber the same way. By the way, it doesn't work for poop on my revolver, and I couldn't tell you why.

Re: Laser Bore Sight , First Impressions
Thanks Harry, I'll remember that next time.
Hmm. wonder why it doesn't work on your revolver ? I was thinking
of trying it just to see how my aim was. ha ha, now I know I will
on both the snubby .38 and 4 in. .357.
I suppose you could dry fire the revolver since the cylinder will rotate
and the firing pin wouldn't strike the laser ? Bad idea ?? I tend to pull
to the left and this would sure show my effort to correct that.

I remember about 10 years or so ago, someone made a chambered laser just for that purpose. You sighted your aim point, squeezed the trigger, and when the hammer fell the laser would flash. Yep, you could certainly tell how much real "trigger time" you needed. Thinking back, it may have been a "laser on a stick", being one that used various sized bushings to fit the muzzle ... and the reverberation of the hammer dropping was what made it "fire".
I need to look that up, but due to a current medication I'm taking, I don't seem to have any better attention span than a 3 year old in a toy store.

Re: Laser Bore Sight , First Impressions
Here's a pretty good article on laser training devices:
https://www.shootingillustrated.com/art ... -practice/
The .44 laser bore sight that works well enough in the 92 points very low in my S&W Model 69 Combat Magnum. All I can figure is that the cylinder is canted down so that the recoil aligns it with the barrel to help the bullet find its way into the forcing cone.
