Hi everyone! New guy here from the Metro Detroit Area, and new(ish) to Rossi rifles. The first one I bout was actually for my son a few years ago, a youth model single shot combo in .22LR/.410. I really think these little gems are highly under-rated as a good first gun for a young shooter. However, I was shocked at how nasty that .410 is! Some weight added to it along with a good slip on recoil pad worked out OK. The .22LR set-up is where this thing shines IMHO. I also added a Williams adjustable peep sight for a T/C, since the Rossi and T/C scope bases are interchangeable. It adds sight radius and gives a much better sight picture, plus still keeps it bomb-proof and lightweight/low profile. As light as it is, i think it makes a great backpacking gun along with the the .410 barrel.
I just picked up my second Rossi last weekend, a blued 92 16" big loop in .357 magnum. I haven't had a chance to take it out yet, but I am really digging how this thing feels.
I've been shooting for a long time, but only "discovered" lever guns in the last few years. My others are Marlins, one with a lightweight 1-5x scope, the other one a "beater" I had my gunsmith chop to 16", and then I added XS sights, Burris FF red dot, and a synthetic youth stock. I call it my S.U.B. Gun (Scott's Ultimate Brush Gun)
Anyway, Im glad to have found this forum and I'm looking forward to shooting the 92 and learning about it here!
