r92 damaged threads

Post by yukondog »

I did a spring job on my 357, when removing the lever/bolt pin I think the punch or the pin buggered up the threads the cap screw is fine but what I need to know is can I get a tap [size?] and clean the threads, or is it one that only Rossi makes?

Have sent Taurus E-Mail's and talked to them today on phone trying to get tap size and all they say is they have to send it up to upper management to see if I can have that information.

youkondog...here's an idea that I've procrastinated on for a while now. Getting a metric screw thread checker and check the dia. and pitch of all the R92 screws. The checker would be a 1/8" thick plate (steel?) that's tapped for screw sizes from 2mm thru 7 mm. Cost is about $20, and like I've said, I've just not gotten around to it...YET.

The Home Depot has those in the hardware aisle.

To be clear, they are not for sale but to use a customer to select the proper hardware. The Home Depot does NOT have many choices for metric here in Texas but you can use their thread examples to order the proper item online.
