saddle ring on top eject Winchester 94

We have threads on this forum about installing saddle rings on Rossi 92s. In fact after reading Ranch Dogs's recommendations back in 2018, I bought a hammer screw replacement screw saddle ring for my .45 Colt 92 from Beartooth Mercantile, and installed a single point sling on that carbine.

Just recently I was given a Winchester 94 .30-30. I'd like to equip it with a similar ring and single point sling. Pre-64 style saddle rings are available. They require drilling and tapping the receiver. If possible I'd like to avoid that.

Does anyone here have experience replacing a 94 hammer screw or cartridge lifter screw with a saddle ring screw like is available for the Rossi 92?

I suppose if absolutely necessary, I can pull my hammer screw, have a saddle ring base welded on with ring, and solve the issue that way.
