Rossi Rifleman

How's the quality, function and accuracy? I'm in the market for a 44 Mag lever action and I've had 3 R92s, two 45 Colts and a 357. The 45s were good to great and the 357 was a PITA.

Now I'm in the market for a 44 Mag. Looking at the quirks of the Marlin, Henry and even older Brownings I find not much to recommend them over the Rossi. My R92s have at least been quite accurate and not particular about what they shot well.

So if you have a late 2019 or 2020 R92 in 44 Magnum, how about your overall opinion so far?

I just purchased a rossi stainless steel 92 in 357 fit and finish are superb
Action is pretty smooth but can use a little polishing to make it extremely slick which i will do soon.
Trigger pull is 3.5 pounds which is very good for stock lever action
High luster finish on the receiver
I shot a box of 50 rounds thru it, function was perfect no hang ups or jams
Even loading rounds into the
Loading gate was easy.
I also own 2 marlins one in 444 and one in 45-70 those trigger pulls are heavy like 7 pounds
Fit and function i prefer my much cheaper 357 rossi manufactured in 2019
I paid $559 out the door in montana

My 3x357s are great with my reloads, not so much with the 44. I have some new loads and I'll have a little more info tomorrow. We're heading out to the Mojave in the morning.

Pleased with mine, except it broke the forearm screw after 30-40 rounds. Seems pretty smooth from the factory.
Waiting on back-ordered parts so I can shoot again.

Beware large bore .44 barrels, they can run as large as .434"

I was pretty sure my older 16" 44 had a larger bore. I couldn't hit a basket ball at 20 yards with that thing.

Thank you all for your replies. My last 45 Colt R92 shot best with .454 cast so it doesn't surprise me to hear some of the 44s are running .434". Just so happens my old Uberti 44 mag has 434 cylinder throats so I have Bear Creek 44 cal bullets on hand sized .433"

Sarge, FWIW I finally ran some hi-tek coated 240gr RNFP (.430) through my 20" carbine. At 65 yards, I got 2 out of 8 rounds on a paper plate. Pretty much the same as my last one. My .357 Rossi's love these Hi-Tek bullets.

The Bear Creek .433 bullets you have, did you special order those ?
