Thanks for the report. That's why I stopped investing in auto manufacturing, kills way too many people every year.

I'm glad they are breaking up their holdings. They have ruined every outfit they have acquired and they won't be doing it anymore.

Freedom Group getting out of guns is good news. :D

Wonder how many tobacco companies Cerberus has invested in or in how many stores that sell cigarettes.
Tobacco products cause thousands of people to die slow, painful deaths from cancer & other ailments every year..........several orders of magnitude more deaths than from guns inclusive of the wars.
Why are cigarettes still around :?: .............oh yah, I forgot the hundreds of billions of dollars in tobacco excise tax revenue flowing to the federal and state governments.......apparently no moral dilemma here :?:
Funny how heaps of tax dollars will "euchre" so called moral indignation every time.
Human life obviously isn't the primary criterion..........many politicians are just plain scared of the Second Amendment and power in the hands of THE PEOPLE. :!:

Those evil Bushmasters!!!! I agree that its good news that they are selling. I wonder if Taurus will try and pick up Marlin and Remington.

Really no reason to, they are building a better rifle right now.

Taurus couldn't do any worse with Remington and Marlin than Freedom Group did.
Remlin & Rossi are about on par now........you're OK as long as you thoroughly check and inspect the product before you lay your cash down on the counter and walk away.
Maybe I'll patent and market a DVD on my Routine Rossi-Remlin Pre-purchase Inspection Regimen.

Very possibly it's a great time to sell. Firearms sales should skyrocket even more while the federal debate heats up. Should make them pretty profitable and attractive to pick up.

Glad I've got all my guns, ammo & reloading stuff cause another ban scare will result in another big gun/ammo buying extravaganza like last time Obama got elected...........the Newtown tragedy will compound the effect of fear of Obama the Baninator.

At his present rate of acquisition RD will have more guns than Taurus in a couple of years and we can buy from him.

FWIW I heard on Fox this morning that one firearms retailer had a line Saturday morning almost 400 people long waiting to buy guns. The next day after the shooting.

It was never Cerberus intention to be in the gun business long term anyway. The whole Freedom Group creation in 06 was only to streamline a bunch of related companies, in this case firearm companies for the express purpose to form a gun conglomerate large enough to take to Wall St and sell in an IPO. They even had an application to the SEC back in 09 to do this but withdrew it a year later after sales slumped due to the economy. I agree that anything is better then a private equity outfit owning them but this could be akin to taking them from the frying pan to the fire.
