Re: Rossi 2" .357 DA current models feedback?
Guys,
I'm back to this post I made once again, thinking of the snubbies or short-barreled revolvers from Rossi.
It appears that as Taurus/Rossi are "one" does this also mean that the Rossi 351/352 is pretty much the same gun as Taurus 85?
I mean, are they the identical design with different "brandings"?
Regardless, they both appeal to me for price point right now. Ideas?
Thank you!

I can't answer your question but Taurus has a $40.00 rebate going on.

jdl447,
Thanks for letting me know about the Taurus $40 rebate. I went to AIM surplus, saw they had the Model 85 Ultra Lite for $279 right now. Take that rebate, and you've got a new snubbie for under $250 - nice deal!

I have the Rossi 351, love the little bugger, and the difference I see between it and the Taurus 85 is that the Rossi uses a hammer nose vs. the transfer bar/pin used in the 85. The image below is from the TaurusUSA features page for the Model 85.
I had several Taurus revolvers; 605 (357 Mag), 415 (41 Mag), M44C (44 Mag), and a 450 (45 Colt). None of them had a hammer nose firing pin.

I have a Rossi 971, 4 inch stainless with adjustable sights. It's from the Interarms era. Not quite as finely made as a Smith & Wesson, but every bit as reliable. I bought for a truck gun that I wouldn't be too concerned about.

Nope, I did not order any snubbie yet. I'm still asking questions and figuring out where & when to spend my money!jdl447 wrote:so ya got one?
However, these 2 snubbies - the Taurus 85 and the Rossi 351 types - are the ones in my sights. Of course, I just went and bought a brand new 2500HD and may be slightly delayed in my purchase.....
take care - Adam

Thanks for the input and experience, Michael. As I just posted to JDL, I'm leaning towards one snubbie or the other - the Taurus 85 or the Rossi 351.Ranch Dog wrote:I have the Rossi 351, love the little bugger, and the difference I see between it and the Taurus 85 is that the Rossi uses a hammer nose vs. the transfer bar/pin used in the 85.

As an aside, on the Taurus is the transfer bar arrangement anything like how the Ruger revolvers work? I've got an old Security Six, just wondering.
And it's nice to read your posts, RD, while you are simultaneously enduring the fallout of Hurricane Harvey! Hope that the continuing rain is not going to damage your home and property badly. At least that corn you lost is replaceable.
Take care and be well

This durn thing just won't leave me alone! The center of Harvey is sitting 4 miles due east of my house and moving away at less than a mile an hour.

RD,
I just posted up another comment about your storm situation on your Lee Loader site - I'd forgotten to check that out!
About 6:00PM EST, hoping all is getting better out your way in Texas.
Be well!
