That would be a good question for the retailers. Anyone here sell them?

I think the .357 is harder to get.
I'm not certain if it costs more from the distributers or not.
I do know my bud's shop will discount the .44 and/or the .45 by about $50 more than the .357 on a pretty regular basis.

I'm wanting another one in stainless this time to contrast with my blued one.

I know what you mean. When I was looking for a 357 model since I did not want to start a new caliber, I did notice the 44 was much cheaper than it. The cheapest was the 45LC for whatever reason.

I got my used .357 for $25 less than the .44 than the seller had. Not sure that matters since they're all used and he wasn't even the first owner.

On the shelf the .357 usually commands about $25-$50 more than the .44.
Part of this is the .44 may end up discounted a bit while the .357 usually sells without a discount.

Right now based on one distributer I checked they are both running about the same prices.
Prices go up and down $15 to $25 but it is probably more due to spot market than anything else.
(454s can be a significant price bump and usually out of stock to boot.)

Same thing with the stainless options.

I think it is mostly demand. .357/.38 tends to be the gun that beginners and cowboy action folks gravitate to and guys get it because they think the wife/girlfriend will like it. Ammo costs also factors in a little. The .44 Mag however tends to be guys who are hunting or who already own a .44 Mag or who reload and are less concerned about the ammo costs.

With a box of .357 running $20-$30 and a box of .44 Mag going for $35-$45 that's starting to mean a lot more than when we were able to get .44 Mag at $18-22 a box and .357 was going for $13-15.

.357 is $40 per 50 around here when you can find it. .38S is $25-30 per 50. Glad I don't have to buy any.

Well those prices really stink.
I was thinking we were still running pretty high locally.

Yeah, you can do much better online. And this week a lot of places are offering free shipping.
