I know I'm a bit behind in this since I'm new to the group, but I have significant knowledge on the .338 Fed and the .338-06. The .338 Fed is on a TC Encore platform and the .338-06 is on a Savage and is my current hunt rifle. The performance of the .338 Fed is remarkable I think. But where it really shines is energy on target and a big hole too boot. We push bullet too fast, but when you slow them down to the magic vel of 2450... BAM! Everything we've taken with both platforms allowed us to process meat right up to the wound channel. Nothing has ever taken a step. From 75 yards to 600 yards. Of course the .338-06 is used for shooting lanes of 200 yards plus. I think a lever gun in .338 Fed would be an interesting build.

Marlin made the 338 MX/MXLR which is in that velocity range and faster, it works great. DP
