Thank you to all who have responded. It was appreciated.

I finally ordered a stainless steel follower and spring. I also ordered a spring kit. If all goes well I will soon be putting these new parts in as well as some discretionary fine stoning of moving parts.

Expect the hardware holding the magazine tube on to be buggered coming off. Expect to need a new screw and to have to file a new channel for the screw in the barrel.

I've done three and didn't bugger up the hardware or need a new screw on any of them. That's because one needs the proper screwdriver made for removing screws from rifles that has flat, parellel sides on the blade, not the tapered blade of a common screwdriver.

Brownells has a spacesaver set at a reasonable price. https://www.brownells.com/tools-cleanin ... gnEALw_wcB

Bought one of these back in the early 80s for about $60. Been worth its weight in gold ever since. And I've added some more driver bits as needed.

Except the common issue is Rossi did not put the groove in the barrel for the screw in the right place and forced it anyway, ruining the threads going in. No screwdriver in the world will help that.

I guess I was lucky then or maybe back in 2009 they made them right but the 3 I've worked were a simple screw out and screw in with just my observation that they were a bit soft so you could damage the slot with the wrong driver.

The one I'm using in my 357 carbine I got from Smith Industries. Not sure if it's stainless or aluminum. I am sure it works good in my rifle.....
