148 gr wadcutter in the rifle

JJ... I might be a little off base about this but, I've been led to believe that wadcutters were developed for accuracy shooting at slower velocities and limited distance/range, i.e. paper targets in competition. And that "semi-wadcutters", like those developed by people such as Elmer Keith and Phillip Sharpe, were developed for much higher velocities and appropriate terminal effect on live game. Not meaning to "rain on your parade", but it sounds like you're trying to use a target bullet to do a hunting bullet's job. If I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time, or last.

Your missing the whole point.
A little rain never hurt anybody. I'm just playing around with the wadcutter to see what it's capable of doing. I know there are plenty of other bullets that are good for hunting. I don't agree the wadcutter was developed strictly for target shooting at low velocity.
I have pushed them pretty fast and with the right load they are capable of good accuracy at 50 to 70 yards. I do believe that that bullet would be a good deer bullet at 50 yards. There are lots of articles about the wadcutter. Search around and you will be surprised at what you will find. I suppose you are one of those guys that say it is only good if shot from a handgun as well. To each his own.... johnny

Well, they were. Doesn't matter if they can be used for something else, they were developed to make nice round holes in paper at short distances. It's not an opinion thing. It's a fact. Will they shoot fast and can they kill? Probably so.
