Re: Removing safety.
There’s a few topics on how to do it. Get creative.

If I was able to get creative I wouldn’t be asking is there any aftermarket Items to use so I don’t have an open hole after the slide is removed

Re: Removing safety.
Take a look at Beartooth Mercantile they make it for the Marlins might work in a Rio.

Re: Removing safety.
They are out of stock right now at Beartooth, but that is what I am going to do. Order the Marlin 1895 safety delete saddle ring for mine. I've read that it takes just a tad of fitting. If they ever get them back in. I'm checking daily.

Re: Removing safety.
Lawyers love guns on which the safety has been removed. I wish my older Marlins had the cross bolt safety. It dosn't
Bother me at all. I use it without much of a thought.

Re: Removing safety.
I did put the Marlin safety delete saddle ring in mine. You do have to take it down a little in circumference to fit it. But looks and works good.

Re: Removing safety.
My new R95 45/70 Trapper I did not want to purchase the safety delete from Beartooth for the Marlin 1895. I did not want the hassle of sanding it down to fit the Rossi R95 like I did for my R95 30/30 so I just took the safety button out and had a drill and tap saddle ring that I had previously purchased. I drill the left side of the safety button, the side with the red ring around it. Threaded it for the saddle ring and put it back into the rifle. Instead of using the spring and ball detent that the safety comes with I cut a small piece of steel rod and put it in with the Allen screw to lock the detent slot in the button to the fire position. Worked really well, I did have to heat the button up to be able to drill and tap it though. Then re-blued it. Looks great in my opinion.
