I’m with y’all in the stature department. I’ve removed more than a couple recoil pads to get the LOP I need. Where I can get them, I get a new stock to shorten for an old rifle and keep the original stock on hand. Or sell it off to a better home.

I am average height, don't hunt, and only own safe queens. I do modify to my liking sometimes but usually nothing permanent.

Haha, I'm a bit below average height, and I don't hunt but I do take care of armadillo's, groundhogs and coyotes on the place. I used to hate to chop a stock, but finally got it through my head that one size does not fit all. Whether I like it or not, I need a short LOP, and in these woods, a short barrel.

Well the buttplate finally arrived and I fit it to the stock this morning. All came out pretty good and now I have a 12.75 length of pull.

just put a R95 trapper on layaway in 30/30. I imagine that I will have to fit a butt plate to it also. But thought it was a shorter rifle, because when shouldered it didn't feel that bad. I will get it out this Saturday. Yours looks really good, well done.
i like the butt plate better than the pad but can not remember what kind of a recoil the 30/30 has.

30-30 recoil? With 180 grainers and my Win 94's steel butt plate...mule kick comes to mind. Of course, I'm only 5'10" and 160 lbs... soaking wet.

176 grains of Ranch Dog cast over IMR3031 in a 1951 Marlin 336RC with a steel butt plate is something I feel at 5' 10" 155 pounds. Doesn't really hurt until the 8th or ninth one.
