Re: Identifying 92 2017 & '18 Year Models
back in the 1980s when i worked at ohio state university as a refrigeration mechanic in there agriculture and veterinary lab dept, there were professors from china and japan.
One professor would break out in tears if you said Elvis Presley, someone asked why he was crying, he said i love Elvis, and started singing one of his songs, just singing and sobbing.
Russians are big cowboy fans to.
Back in the late fifties when the Rifleman was airing on TV, it was the only American TV show allowed in Russia.
I dont know what to think about rossi, with them flooding the market with semi auto 22s.
they must have gotten bad advice from someone.
Since there top priority is to make a profit, they probably thought they would sale like hotcakes.
They will either switch back to the lever rifle lineup, or sale out.
I wish uberti would start making 92s, but not holding my breath.
Chiappa has the market on that, listening to guys that own both chiappa and rossi 92s, they say they look identical on the inside.
Miroku is making 92s, but read where the rockwell hardness test showed the rossi 92 to be better steel.

My Uberi 45 SA is built very well. I'd buy a Uberti 45 92 in a heartbeat at the right price and without a safety (like the revolver).

Not meaning to contest this statement, but I am curious about the source of informaion. I have a Rossi 92, which I love, but I also have a Browning 92. The B-92 is made by Miroku and the metalwork is extraordinary. I have no idea how the Rockwell hardness of some of the steels used in the B-92 fabrication compare with similar parts in the R-92, but I'm certain in hardness, toughness, and tensile strength they correct.Mad Trapper wrote:. . . The products produced by Miroku are on a different level from those produced by Taurus and its affiliates. This is not to denigrate the R-92, but to recognize we might be comparing a Ford to a BMW.

Winchester is putting out a 92 whether it's Japanese or Belgian [? shrug I didn't look] it's high quality and every bit as good as any Winchester ever put their name on.
at the price they charge they should be, but you can look at them and see where your money is going.
they are even better than the Navy Arms built Rossi parts guns, smoother and deeper, and IMO better than even the Browning B-92's.
but you can buy 2 of the Rossi rifles for one of the Winchesters, soo?

Sounds good to me. I'd like to see $350 R92s and $150 single shots.Ranch Dog wrote:

That wish would include getting it out of Brazil. I would be okay with it being made in China, at least they would run a viable business model.

I bought the same model in Feb. 2019. The serial number is 7CR005xxxL. I hope yours was machined better than the one I received. See this for my photos. https://www.rossi-rifleman.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6457m-saunoras wrote:My new 20" stainless 357 is 923572093 and the serial number is 7CR00xxxxL like others have posted.
