Unfortunate outcome of the Restricted Parts Policy
This is the ultimate outcome of the Braztech Restricted Parts Policy.
The single shot rifles seem to be in the worst shape, you can buy nothing. The value of a used gun is simply the sum of it's parts as found on eBay. This is not the first time I've seen this, its quicker to just whack the receiver in half so that it is no longer a firearm than disassemble the parts. So much is the value of the rifle.

THIS plus the earlier post about having to send the 92 back to Florida to have an ejector replaced isn't exactly giving me warm fuzzies about Braztech.
I think we need some reliable sources for small parts for these guns other than just the spring kits.

Agreed but with current political appointments and laws and restrictions on importation of anything gun related cost is huge so is the headache that follows less hope these may be slight isolated incedents and see what reports give uus further information before being to rash. Though I am rubbed the wrong way in this as well. Less hope they make it up to those wronged and make it right. The timeline and work and effort of rossi is in the wind for now.

Re: Unfortunate outcome of the Restricted Parts Policy
Yeah, the news of the R92 going back for a yesterday really %@*&$ me off. I knew what the deal was going into the Rossi's and I still like my rifles but I've decided to buy no more. I do watch eBay for parts and have bought just about everything under the sun.Tuco Ramirez wrote:I guess so much for my optimism about the restricted parts policy changing.......
What I wonder about in a case like this is what was wrong with the rifle who's parts are being put up for sale. When you look at a single shot, there is not much outside of what's inside the picture. It is only speculation but that S12 (12 gauge shotgun) might have been for sale in a shop with no takers. I study stuff like this with all my rifles and a Rossi top breach shotgun on the used market is truly worth the sum of its parts and that is it. They are worth about 33% of their retail value. Single shot rifles aren't much better, at about 50%, with the exception of the R357 & R762. These will sell for more than they did new.
That rifle going to Florida is what caused me to look because I have seen the part he needed on eBay. There were very few parts compared to some of the times I have looked.Archer wrote:THIS plus the earlier post about having to send the 92 back to Florida to have an ejector replaced isn't exactly giving me warm fuzzies about Braztech.

Personally, I would have sent it back USPS or not sent it back at all. If I didn't send it back, I would have parted it out on eBay and sold the barreled receiver on Gunbroker.
Not much we can do as far as the parts go, not unless you want to get in the parts building business.
I believe the restricted parts are an internal restriction put in place by Braztech, nothing to do with importation. Mr. Kressner made immediate changes to the handguns being built in Florida but he may have hit a brick wall when he had to deal with the parent company in Brazil. I know that I have bought parts at the start of all this that are now restricted. Lucky for me I've even bought the R92 ejectors when I first bought the rifle. It makes it hard for me to see a guy needing the part and not send it to him, but I have five of these things that I hope to keep running for awhile yet.akuser47 wrote:Agreed but with current political appointments and laws and restrictions on importation of anything gun related cost is huge so is the headache that follows less hope these may be slight isolated incedents and see what reports give uus further information before being to rash. Likewise.
I don't own any BrazTech R92s at present.
My 3 x M92s are the old Amadeo Rossi pre-safety vintage.......I am extremely well pleased with them.......they cleaned & polished up into real winners.......they will be in my gun cabinet til the day I die........the 92/454 gets compliments every time I take it hunting or to the range......my piece de resistance.
Absolutely no regrets about my Rossi experience and the biggest & best bonus is I got to meet all you fine people on RR.
The only place any company has any sensibilities is in the bottom line and that's where your impact has to be vectored to change policy........if people are still buying the guns the BrazTech executive won't overrule the lawyers unless the policy demonstably affects sales & therefore the bottom line.
When I consulted for manufacturing companies the lawyers hated my guts........I would walk in to meetings with counter arguments backed by solidly supported figures on how much in % of dollars invested their nonsense was going to affect profits.........the objecting lawyers were usually conspicuous by their absence at any future meetings. Execs don't like explaining the word LOSS to the CEO & the board of directors. In corporate lingo LOSS is the ultimate 4 letter word.
I have to admit I got some measure of sadistic pleasure out of seeing those smug, liberal faces turn crimson from embarassment.
My philosophy of life is if the lawyers hate me I can't be all bad.

Re: Unfortunate outcome of the Restricted Parts Policy
The rules of marketing prohibit vacuums as vacuums present opportunities for other companies seeking a niche.
If the R92 rifles are popular enough BrazTechs restricted parts policy will create a marketing vacuum that other companies will rush to fill as Marlins lousy triggers did for Wild West Guns.
For example I paid @ $89 for Wild West Guns "Trigger Happy Kits" which probably cost less that @ $5 to make.......pretty nice profit margin indeed.......no need to incur the upfront costs of developing & marketing a new product .........just piggyback on an existing product.

Re: Unfortunate outcome of the Restricted Parts Policy
Ok, due to the parts policy I've decided to hold off on buying a R92. No way am I going to buy a gun if I have to send it back for simple small parts. Yesterday I picked up a used Marlin 336 in 35 Rem for about half the price of a R92 and I've decided to try and make it more handy and a touch lighter and see if that will scratch my lever gun itch.

A decision you WON'T regret.........just bought a new Marlin 336C in 35 Rem myself a coupla weeks ago.klr wrote:Ok, due to the parts policy I've decided to hold off on buying a R92. They are ready to hunt right outta the box......twice the gun for half the money.
If you want to snaz the gun up (ie. lighter, crisper trigger) there are lots of after market custom parts from outfits like Wild West Guns to enhance the gun.
Let us know how the new Marlin works out.
