Federal Hammer Down/ Federal JSP

Post by dpowers92 »

To begin with: what are your thoughts on the Federal Hammer Down 357 Magnum ammo?
Any issues with the ammo?

In my 92 the Federal Hammer Down 170 grain does not extract reliably or forcefully.....the extractor grabs the round but often times the round just flips back into the receiver.
Is this a function of the case being different: nickel vs brass or case length?

All other brass cased ammo (38s including) extracts reliably although with a tad less force.

Also has anyone ran steel cased ammo through their 92?

I haven't heard of it. I load my own. I have never seen steel case .357. I haven't seen ANY .357 on the shelf in three years. I don't get out much.

Just looked them up. Interesting. But, not at + $33.00 per 20 rnds. I guess I'll just continue to "roll my own."
