Hello everybody.
Just picked my first Rossi R92 a couple of weeks ago.
45 Colt 16 inch blued. Looking good so far. Been busy at work
so have not fired it yet. Have been doing some mods though.

Welcome to the forum !
There is a section here for introductions, say hi there too.

My last Rossi was a blued 16" .45 like yours.
A metal follower is the first thing I did. On my .45 I had the Steve's peep where the safety was.

The .45 Rossi and Ruger Flattop Convertible in .45 Colt/.45 ACP.

Are you going to be using factory .45 ammo or some handloads ?

I wouldn't be able to shoot much (revolvers anyway) if it wasn't for reloading. I haven't seen any .357 Magnum, .44 magnum or .45 Colt for sale around here for close to two years. I have seen .38 Special in stock a few times at a decent price, and .44 Special as well but it was 25 round "boutique" boxes of Hornady gummy tips for $50.

Stores have tons of 5.56mm and 9mm and .45 ACP though. It's even stacked high in the aisles at a couple stores here.
I wish the ammo companies would hold off on those calibers for a while, and make some others that they've been neglecting.

Were looking forward to the range report when you go fire it.

I will mostly be shooting reloads. I have had a convertable Blackhawk for several years.
Factory ammo is way to expensive in 45 colt,
Recently picked up 490rds factory ammo from a guy getting out of revolvers.
I will shoot some of it and save some for hard times.

I stayed away from 45LC for the same reason. A couple buddies got me back into reloading and a Winchester model 92 in 45 was my next purchase.

Welcome to this forum. There is a good compendium of information here on Rossi guns.

I had been predominately a .44 shooter for several decades, but about 10 years ago I started shooting a .45 Colt Rossi 92, then acquired an older Ruger NM Blackhawk in .45 Colt. It has been gratifying to shoot and develop personal loads for the .45. It is impressive what ya can do with 255 grain slugs at 940 fps.

Welcome.
A .45 Colt Ruger BH is a hoot to shoot, but I believe they're all pretty fun and both calibers have utility. I've tipped over elk with .44 mag revolver just fine. Have not had opportunity present itself to do that with .45. I like shootin' S&W .44 special revolvers (lprobably .429 special to gas guzzler), and have had some fun with .44 Russian rounds out in the mountains.

I acknowledge that the late 19th & 20th century .44 caliber revolver rounds being actually .429/.430 was probably marketing history, but it's what is printed on the box ...

Ya takes yur money and convert it to smoke and noise in all cases. +guns
