That chopped RG should weigh in on the shy side of 5 pounds empty
Are those yellow boxes Buffalo Bore ammo
If they are I hope all your tooth fillings are in pretty solid.

That gun is born to be bad !bigchelis wrote:Thank you all for the feedback.
It's hard to put size into perspective but I can hold it comfortably like a pistol and cool feature is it holds 5 rounds in Tube and 1 in Chamber. So plenty of power for backpacking. It has a youth decelerator recoil pad.
This is a standard range bag.
What a great gun to carry in the deep woods, awesome !

The buffalo bore I have is the 350g and 405g and definitely it will not be my plinking ammo.
The leverlution by Hornady is the 325g and even before the Scout build it already kicked pretty hard.
The other ammo I have is still 405grain but like 800fps, so very low recoil and should be good to test out.
All this wait and I wasnt able to make it out to the range this weekend.

The 325 grain Hornady FTX factory ammo is as accurate as old heck in my 2 x Guide Guns giving me 3-shot groups under 1 inch at 100 yards.bigchelis wrote:The buffalo bore I have is the 350g and 405g and definitely it will not be my plinking ammo.

I found the cheek impact of the heavy hitting levers much more unpleasant than the shoulder recoil.
I have a bolt action Savage Alaskan Brush Hunter model 116 in 375 Ruger I call "The Clydesdale" (4900 ft-lbs of muzzle energy pushing a 300 grain bullet ) that only weighs 7.5 pounds that would impact my cheek bone hard enough to do damage if I didn't have my GOD'A GRIP adhesive cheek pad installed on it. This soft rubber pad which costs only a few dollars has an adhesive side that sticks to the butt stock comb of the gun and does an excellent job of attenuating the cheek slap resulting from heavy recoil.
You're going to need to zero the rifle with the BB ammo if you intend to use it on game. Firing BB in a gun that light could result in you seeing all the stars in the Star Spangled Banner floating around your head if you're not prepared (good recoil pad + cheek pad)........a patriotic moment if you will.

After the smoke clears let us know how the gun shoots.
It should be pretty accurate with that short snout if the smith did a good job re-crowning the barrel.

The wood in that stock is whispering to me "please rub some Tru-Oil into me".
I know photos can distort but the wood has that "orangey" color that I've observed on some RGs on the rack.

I went shooting with this Shortie Rio Grande 45~70.
Point of Aim is perfect, I didnt make any adjustments
Only shot it at 50 yards, but the front blade is too thick and better suited for 100yards (IMHO)
Anticipating the recoil didnt allow for good groups but at least I can hit the 6~8in plate, which is good for me considering how finiky my trigger finger was. Recoil had me scared
The buffalo bore vs. Hornady leverlution kick just as hard. All others are at least half as intense.
My girlfriend had a cut below the eye from the rifle hitting her safety glasses and into her cheeck. Bled like crazy too. She didnt want to shoot anymore but didnt want to leave the range eighter.
The barrel gets smoking hot after just 3 rounds of buffalo bore.
I finished the shooting my CZ527 in 7.62x39 bolt action which has a scope and soft recoil and does 1in MOA all day with cheap wolf ammo. This made me smile after spending those expensive 45~70 rounds.
