Thanks. Tru-Oil over the existing finish does wonders on a Rossi stock. It took about 10 coats to get there with this one as the grain was really porous.

Nice finishing job Model 52.
Looks exactly like my 92/454.
A light rub with very fine steel wool will dull the finish if you don't like the shiny "epoxied" look.
A lint free rag moistened with a little dab of denatured alcohol applied judiciously will deliver a good buffing rub.

Model 52, Is that a long barrel on that 45 Colt? I have to use the scroll bars just to see it all! Nice looking rifle!

Rossi Carbines clean up better than just about any other gun out there. There's a lot of quality in the metal finish and once the wood work is brought to a similar level you notice the metal work a lot more.

It's the "short" 20" barrel, the long one is 24". :D

I've never been a real 16" barrel fan.

The hat is a size 7 1/2 because I have a big head.

Some of it is just the light. The current finish is from a light wet sanding with 0000 steel wool. It gives just a bit more of a semi-gloss/satin finish than rubbing it dry with steel wool but is still enough to knock down the overly blingy epoxy looking finish you get just leaving the last coat un touched.

Here is my recently-purchased R92 .357 scout with after a reshaping and refinishing of the stocks and the mounting of a Burris Fastfire III red dot:

Nice compact looking brush gun.
I always liked the rugged quality of Burris products.
My M92/357 "Puma" Trapper is about the same as yours except it has no safety & the front sight is part of the front barrel band.
If the old peepers get too dim for iron sights I'll be looking at a Burris Fastfire.
