My new Rio Grande
My new Rio Grande
My new SS Rio Grande in 45/70. With Weaver Classic V3 1.5-3x. Smith Shop follower and magazine spring. Palo Verde Marlin Mainspring Kit. Leather wrapped lever. Like most Rossi's, it's a solid well made gun but a little rough around the edges. It needed some cleaning and polishing internally but it's pretty slick now.

Re: My new Rio Grande
Very nice! After using the Classic K4 Scout scope on my R92s I was thinking about either the Classic K4 or Classic V1-3 on my three RGs. Any comments?
Yes, very nice indeed!

Re: My new Rio Grande
Have not shot it yet. Just finished it up this morning. But it handles well and the scope is clear as a bell and just the right size for my purposes. Hopefully will get out to the range tomorrow.Ranch Dog wrote:Very nice! After using the Classic K4 Scout scope on my R92s I was thinking about either the Classic K4 or Classic V1-3 on my three RGs. Re: My new Rio Grande
I have almost he same gun and same setup right down to the mag follower. Only difference is I'm using a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x32mm scope on mine with the Weaver quad mounts. I flat love mine but also had very little buff and shine with mine. Probably the best machined gun I've ever owned and that is a lot of guns.

Re: My new Rio Grande
What do you use to polish the metal on the stainless version of the Rio Grande? How about the wood stock? Thanks,, Jerry

Re: My new Rio Grande
Impressive picture & background.
That's a good rifle/scope comination.
The Rio is a very attractive rifle in a utilitarian sort of way.......a no frills "working" rifle.
They clean up to be amazingly slick n'accurate guns.
The 160 grain Hornady FTX "Gummy Bear" factory ammo is exceptionally accurate in my 30-30 Rio.
I see leather wrapped finger levers is fast becoming a forum fad.

The Leather wrapped lever is used in Cowboy Action Shooting on pretty much every lever gun. When you work the action quickly for about 10 shots your fingers can get beat up pretty good.

Re: My new Rio Grande
love it also for those of you who have wrapped your levers wouldn't it cause them to rust? Beens leather absorbs moisture?
