I use that silicon spray to waterproof boots on the rawhide.
Take the rawhide off once in a while (especially after the gun gets soaking wet) and dry it out and apply a little oil to the metal.
Water is very ingenious at getting under tape and staying there..........then you have a deep pitting problem. :shock:

See I have been wanting to wrap my lever, but I think if and when I do I will first remove my lever and refinish it in black duracoat then wrap it up and not worry unless I have a damaged the finish I apply. I love the leather on these guns.
