Stock finish? Dissatisfied

I have to say, the finish on my Ranch Hand sucks! Maybe mine is the exception and not the rule...but it is very thin and has too much red. Looks like it was just sprayed on and not very well at that! How well are you satisfied with yours?

Pretty much brown shoe polish but the stock take a nice finish with minimal work.

I just rub & work double boiled linseed oil into the drab Rossi finish......mainly to preserve the wood & it looks OK (like a working mans gun).....goodnuf for a utility pest/vermin control & huntin gun.
My 92s are tools.......by the same token I don't get too fancy with my axe, rake, shovel or fly swatter handles either.
If I decide to go for looks and have to get the toolbox out and remove anything I'd just as soon get the real walnut butt stock & forearm for about $100, fit them and do the forearm relief thing at the same time & kill 2 or 3 birds with 1 stone.
If you're gonna do a job do it right.
I won't waste time, money & effort putting a custom finish on Brazilian jungle mystery wood..........if I decide to go fancy it'll be with real American walnut.

I think they have lighted up on the amount of brown shoe polish used since you acquired your rifles. This is what I originally did with my 454 stock, it washed the finish off and turned everything broom stick yellow! That is why I went with the full Tru-Oil route. I'm done and it is as pretty as it gets. Pictures yet to follow.
