Re: NOE incoming, have a "first" scope question
Colli, welcome to the forum.
I mounted that Leatherwood Hi Lux 2 x 7 on my .45 Colt 92 and used it a few years for whitetails and antelope. A friend shot that carbine so well compared to his peep sighted Marlin that I gave him the scope for his rifle, and now have replaced it with a Burris Scout. I have yet to fire the Rossi with the present scope mounted.
I believe you will like the Hi Lux. It is very clear, stable at the different power levels, and is relatively compact.

BTW, my first over/under shotgun was a Valmet imported from Finland by Savage back in the '70s. I used it for years, taking my first several wild turkeys, lots of ducks and geese, a couple of swans, a whitetail, some doves, sage grouse, pheasants and quail.

Looks cool, so I ordered one in silver (my 92 is SS). Has shipped, so should be here in a few days. Then I'll figure out what I want to put on it (no rush).

I've just put this on last week Leupold FX-112.5x28 and it's better than I thought.
Good field of view, and the right amount of eye relief.

stevep1954: I wrestled a long time with how much I should spend on a decent scope. My 92 44 mag carbine is sporting a NOE and topped with Leupold FX II fixed 2.5x28 scope. Although not a budget scope, I certainly wouldn't call it expensive. It came on sale and I think scooped it for about $280. The combination of eye relief & 2.5 power allows me to easily track moving deer with both eyes open. It also comes in at a scant 7.5 ounces. I couldn't be happier with its performance.

I ordered it from NOE. They had them in black, and in silver. Part # P892S.HarryAlonzo wrote:Where did you find one in silver?
I figured the silver would look good against the stainless steel barrel. Here's the link:

The recurring image on this website is of a silver one.

Re: NOE incoming, have a "first" scope question
Once again, I have to apologize for my poor reading comprehension. I thought you got the Hi Lux scope in silver. I have the silver NOE base on my SS 44, and I like the look. Silver finished LER scopes are few and far between.

Kiwi, I've been using that Leupold FX-II for several years.Kiwi-Hunter wrote:I've just put this on last week Leupold FX-112.5x28 and it's better than I thought.

Eye relief is perfect, shoot it both eyes open, just raise the gun and it pops right into focus.
Works great when suddenly... there it is and it's moving fast, get on it and shoot!
