Have a happy and blessed Fourth of July. And let us not forget those who got us to this place.

The sad thing GRVO1 is that no matter what day is selected, at least 50% of our population does not recognize the importance of the event. They think of it as irrelevant history and wouldn't look up from their phones to even consider the cost of a free country.GRV01 wrote:And a belated June 21st, what i wish we celebrated as Ratification Day, the true birth of the Union as we know it
Similar to my Dad. He was in '69-72? and never said a word (although it was no secret). He never did "verteran stuff" until about the time he got to the age of retirement. To me I always thought it was because he was drafted as a full time scholarshipped student with a full time job and a pregnant wife and they drafted him anyway....but it worked out fine.Ranch Dog wrote:Yes, Happy Independence Day!
When I left the US Army in 1975, I locked it all in a box and didn't want to revisit it. My children know nothing of me in uniform and I'm not sure I'm ready to change that. I did just renew my conceal carry license and sent my DD214 in with the fee. It really affected me on its return to see "VETERAN" stamped across it.
