Re: Rossi .480
your efforts made it look real nice, RD! good to hear the stories of another limited-release chambering for our Brazilian lever guns. I'm thinking you've probably got about every one Rossi's ever done!

Re: Rossi .480
The only cartridge offering I haven't bought is the 44/40. With a 44 Mag, I feel it just isn't necessary for my brace of Rossi 92s. Speaking of which there is a stainless 44/40 on GunBroker. I just can't figure the stainless with the traditional chambering.alphalimafoxtrot wrote:your efforts made it look real nice, RD! good to hear the stories of another limited-release chambering for our Brazilian lever guns. Re: Rossi .480
The only reason that I would add .44-40 to my armory is if l run across a vintage Winchester 92 that I just can't live without. Which just might happen someday, but it's not an active pursuit.

Re: Rossi .480
I also never could understand the 44-40 Win without the rifle being available in 25-20 Win, 32-20 Win, or 38-40 Win. I felt the same way with the Rio Grande not being available in 25-35 Win, 32 Win Spl, and 38-55 Win. Rossi should have become the classic levergun cartridge choice.GasGuzzler wrote:Thank you!Ranch Dog wrote:I just can't figure the stainless with the traditional chambering.
Shelf ammo isn't an argument anymore, nor would it have been with the 44-40 Win, with the volume of reloaders in this country now.

Re: Rossi .480
for some reason, I've always had an interest in the 25/20. I know it's field applications are somewhat limited, but it could certainly be an economical plinker for reloaders. If Rossi were to manufacture a quality built R92 in 25/20 (or 32/20), I would be on the hunt for one.

I'd like to see a 327 cal, Henry has one. You reloaders have all the fun.mr surveyor wrote:for some reason, I've always had an interest in the 25/20. Re: Rossi .480
The 25-20 Win is the only quarter-bore I own, and I find it very useful for life at the ranch, more so that the 218 Bee. The "Jordon" buck, held the B&C record form 1914 to 1993. Mr. Jordan was using a 25-20 Win on the day he took that top buck.
