.38 Special vs. .357 Magnum POI
.38 Special vs. .357 Magnum POI
Have a M92 in .38special/.357magnum, and have been shooting a lot of .38 special through it for practice. Looking at hunting in the next few weeks with it and was wondering if the POI would be similar if I switched to a similarly weighted .357 magnum round (both 158 grains), or if I should get a pile of .357 magnum and resight in completely.

Re: .38 Special vs. .357 Magnum POI
I found in shooting 38s and 357s from the same company (local reman operation) there was about 1.5" difference, with the 357 higher. These were 125 gr RNFP so with the 158s YMMV. A quick trip to the range to check is definitely in order.

Zero with the ammo you're going to hunt with at the farthest range you're going to shoot game. There is no substitute for this.

Ended up zeroing in with hornady Leverevolution.

Never got a good shot at anything, but was glad I paid for it for the practice. It hits about 4 inches higher than my .38 special was hitting. Also found out hornady makes some non "+P" rated .38 special with hollow points. Gonna give those a try this summer for accuracy and overall performance.
