I just discovered this forum (from a link over on Calguns.net). I am a lever action enthusiast, having owned several since the mid 60s. I recently acquired a Rossi 92, .454 Casull, stainless. I had only fired it a few times before the rear sight flew off. Front sight wasn't much better. I have a 'smith lined up deal with the sight issue so I don't have much experience with the rifle as yet. It certainly has plenty of punch and can't wait to get it back in action.

I bought it as a companion to my Freedom Arms Model 83 Premier in .454 Casull (both being out of stainless). I reload for all center fire calibers so ammo is no problem for me.

I think my nest model 92 will be a stainless in .357/.38 with 20" barrel, once they go back into production.

Howdy from South Carolina, and welcome to the forum.

The .357 92 is a great plinker.

Thank you, we love it here. We have a small 3 acre farm about 1 1/2 miles out from State Street on Boonville Rd. Very rural yet close to shopping in town. It gets hot in the summer but our house is well insulated + we have central air (on right now as a matter of fact).

My wife and I belong to the Ukiah Gun Club about 15 minutes north of our place. A great range for rifle/pistol/shotgun. They have hanging steel out to 400 yards or so, lots of fun for lever action plinking.

I've read several posts already that detail slicking up the action (my 92 is almost brand new, maybe 15 rounds through it) and stock refinishing. I'm going to give this puppy a make over before I have new sights installed.

This seems like a great site, I'm glad I found it!

Me, too! It's a great bunch of people. Very helpful and well informed. There's just enough activity to keep up with, but not too much. I just joined the SavageShooters forum, and it's veeeerry quiet, at least in the Vintage Centerfire forum. Very difficult to spark a conversation there.

Sounds like you have a great place. My local range max's out at 100 yards. I can drive a little farther to find 200 yards, but only members can shoot steel. I'm looking forward to my next house out in the middle of nowhere.
