Re: Is Rossi going out of business?
Rossi makes a good solid rifle, they just skip the final finishing touches.
thats why they show up in the rough.
The final cleanup, tuning, polishing, etc are left for the new owner, it is time consuming so they just push the guns out the door.
I handled a new marlin 336 at sportsmans warehouse in Lexington back in May.
Plastic barrel bands and all.
After handling that lever and all its plastic, I know marlin will never be back.

Not for lack of trying though. Keep getting ads for Marlins on sale for hunting season priced (after rebates ofcourse) right at Rio Grandes price point which makes me wonder if somebody important at Remington/Marlin feels their products are overpriced for what they are...Mad Trapper wrote:Rossi makes a good solid rifle, they just skip the final finishing touches.

Marlin needs to bring back their 39A .22LR.

Hard to beat the quality of a Bl22. I've had mine for over 40 years, now that ammo prices are reasonable again
I'm looking forward to bagging some bushytails this fall.

Re: Is Rossi going out of business?
The BL-22 is nice, I'll admit. Finding one isn't always the easiest thing and finding a particular model can be a PITA especially when it is one Browning only ships to their stocking master dealers like the special edition long barrel I wanted several years ago. Didn't manage to snag one back then.
In addition they aren't exactly inexpensive however even in the basic version unless you get yours like I got mine, slightly marred with handling marks and purchased as I was hanging around the gunshop when a lady came in with a friend, a couple kids and the words: 'My husband just died and I don't want these in the house!' The counterman knew I was a sucker for a levergun, rimfires and that I was looking for a Colt revolver so I ended up making offers on the BL22 and the Trooper MKIII. The shotgun and the Winchester 94 were either sold to the friend or he found someone to buy them private party later in the day. (Sale went through the store as true private party sales aren't legal in CA without background check, registration with the state and being held for 10 days by a FFL.)
I honestly find myself reaching for the little Henry Octagonal before the even smaller, and lighter BL22 however. The BL22 has a shorter stroke but other than that and the fact that some people particularly like the fact that the trigger follows the lever so getting pinched is a little less likely there's no advantage I see in the BL22.

Marlin 39 and BL-22 are nice 22s, but I think I'll stick with my ol' Rossi 62 Octagon.

I read a few days ago that Marlin is making them in the custom shop. I think the price is 3k plus. I'd be surprised if they sell very many of them.Archer wrote:Marlin needs to bring back their 39A .22LR.

Agreed along with whoever buys the rifle.Archer wrote:Proof that Remington has completely lost it if true.

Re: Is Rossi going out of business?
Just read where the CEO for Remington resigned recently. Remington has been losing a lot of money. Perhaps a better paradigm is forthcoming.
