Win M94 Timber Scout
My "not going to buy any more" lasted since December but I could not pass on a Win M94 Timber Scout chambered in 30-30 Win.
I saw this rifle appear on another forum a month ago and move to Gunbroker where it was listed $100 less than on the forum. There was no activity (there just isn't any 30-30 Win love anymore) so I let it pass, and sure enough, the price was dropped another $100 on a short period auction. So, $200 off the initial offering was just too much to pass.
This rifle was also chambered in 44 Mag, and if I ever see one offered, I never have, I will be on it like a rat on a Cheeto. I do have a Weaver K4 Classic Scout Scope waiting for it!

Re: Win M94 Timber Scout
Oh my goodness.
right now I am speechless.
I would have jumped all over that rifle also.
But there is no 30-30 love around here to.
I was talking last week to my buddy who works the counter at a Corbin KY gunshop
I bought 250 brass cartridge cases a few weeks ago, and asked him about the other 250 he had.
He said they will be back there when I want them cause noone has an interest in the 30-30 anymore.
I just sent a check to Ace Dube up in Anchorage at mca sports.
I ordered every 30-30 adapter he has.

It is going to stay on. That's the good thing about a proper scout, you can shoot them with or without the scope. You just use quick lock rings.GasGuzzler wrote:Whatcha gonna do with that rear sight? Will it fit an old 336?

XS does sell Ghost Rings for the Marlin. Williams sells the WARS as well.

XS I've found are just as pricey as a Vintage Lyman or Redfield which I'd prefer. Trying to find info on WARS....most of the Williams require rear base holes which I REFUSE to drill in a waffle top.Ranch Dog wrote:XS does sell Ghost Rings for the Marlin. Williams sells the WARS as well.
Sorry about off topic. I've not seen a rifle like you posted here.

Yeah, limited options with a waffle top.GasGuzzler wrote:XS I've found are just as pricey as a Vintage Lyman or Redfield which I'd prefer. Trying to find info on WARS....most of the Williams require rear base holes which I REFUSE to drill in a waffle top.
I have three Marlin XS Scouts; 1894P ~ 44 Mag, 336D ~ 35 Rem, and a 444P ~ 444 Marlin.
I also have another M94, that my dad gave me because he has been using one of my Marlins for 15 years now. I had found a Redfield Jr. Scout Mount which incorporates the rear sight base in the mount. The mount came with a complete kit for drilling and tapping the barrel. That is one of this summer's project. The purchase of the subject rifle has me thinking about sending my dad's M94 to JES to rebore/rechamber to a 35-30.
Here are some pictures of the Redfield mount.

That's a beauty!
I've got 3 94s in .30-30 and I'm thinking about a Marlin if I find one in good shape or a good price.
