So I was needing to reload some more .45 Colt, but could not find my case lube as it is packed somewhere. Since there are no shops around for reloading components, I thought I would improvise.

Having use Imperial Sizing Die Wax for more then a decade I thought about what would work in a pinch in its place.

What I came up with was using coconut oil. It actually works as well if maybe better on .45 colt then the ISDW. I was pretty surprised but happy with the result. Not only does it size well but for some odd reason it also works to clean cases as well. This was great because my tumbler is also packed.

Just thought I would pass along the tip.

Here us a before and after picture after wiping the case with coconut oil. Pretty good.

You might want to clean your die periodically to make sure there isn't a crude buildup.

a bud of mine uses V0-5 hair conditioner as a swage and case size lube.
he just washes them off.

Frog Lube, it's made out of coconut oil.

Petroleum jelly works as good if not better than any lube.

Yes, and there have been reports of it going "rancid" or at least promoting mold growth. YMMV

Yep, my brother, both a pharmacist and a reloader developed a concoction that blended some liquid lanolin with petroleum jelly and I've been using that for 34 years. I picked up a ink stamp pad (the kind you add your own ink) and instead pour some of the lanolin/petroleum gel in bottom, roll case lightly across surface and that has seemed to work fine for me. I don't know his mixing ratios, but it is liquid. Have to shake bottle before adding more to my pad.

Have read of several recipes that mix lanolin with alcohol, for using with spritzer bottles, but I have not done that personally.

The coconut oil sounds interesting - might leave an intriguing scent on the brass.

hmmm.... I wonder if I could use Kale instead of H110?

BTW- all my reloads are gluten-free
