30-30 Revolver
30-30 Revolver
Has anyone had any experience with a 30-30 revolver?...I saw one online from Magnum Research...was 17 inches long, weighed 5.5 pounds and held 5 rounds I believe...was also available in 45-70, 454 and maybe 444.
I figured it would kick like a mule and it was pretty pricey too at around $1000 bucks, but might be nice to have to go along with the RG 30-30 I bought.

Re: 30-30 Revolver
Wow 3030 I could see but these calibers would need a decent barrel 7" or longer to acheive any decent velocity to be useful I assume. I do not know as fact. Sounds neat but I doubt I would get one.

As I recall, it has a 10.5 inch barrel...blasted thing weighs so much you'd have to replace your boot soles often on the side it was carried...

Re: 30-30 Revolver
Magnum research makes some revolvers in crazy calibers, I did look at the 45-70 version of their revolver, but after shooting the rio grand I know I dont want to be holding one of those rounds in a revolver. Dont get me wrong, it would be a neat gun so you could have a matched pair but I think I will leave that to the .44 Mag or 45 Colt. A lighter load in 30-30 might not be too bad for a revolver but I would hesitate to go any larger. Just my .02
Rio Grand .45-70

Re: 30-30 Revolver
Thompson Contender has produced the 30-30 barrel and several others similar 7.62x39 and .30 herret that are very accurate out beyound the range you would normally hunt. Standard barrel length is 10, 12, and 14" for pistol but can be had up to 23" when used with rifle stock.

A 30-30 revolver , isnt that call masochism ? 45-70 , seriously? to match your rifles , now I can 44 or 45 or 357 , not bad ,but if I had to rely on a revolver in 45-70 that grizzly bear better be right on boots!

Re: 30-30 Revolver
They indicated further along in the article that there was one of those revolvers chambered in 450 Marlin.
Man, you'd need to be a cross between The Terminator & The Incredible Hulk to fire that thing.
My shoulder is still sore from firing 20 shots with a 6 3/4 pound rifle in 450 Marlin earlier this week.
The same 20 shots from a revolver? ........NO THANKS !

Some years back, I went into a hardware store in Skagway,Ak. They had two pistols for sale, a Taurus Raging Bull in 44 mag and a TC Contender in 30/06. I look at the TC and thought "big pistol for big men during big things"
