I think this one, in a listing below the RG listing in Lever Actions, would interest me much more. Sadly, the collective experiences herein, yours notwithstanding RD, would seem to indicate there is a reason the Rio Grande series is no longer in production.

That's not a bad price on the BLR if the caliber is for you IMO.
If I were interested I might see what he'd take off if he kept the scope and put a somewhat better glass on it.

Yep, not a caliber one encounters among other shooters very often. Still, I think it a fine round and in a takedown BLR, it makes a fine one to pack on a motorcycle when doing back country exploring and camping. With 250 gr. boolitz, it is some serious perimeter defense against those higher in the food chain. With 200-225 gr. boolitz, it makes a handy elk rifle. I would imagine it to be a worthy hog hunter as well. Brass is easy - direct resize of .308 brass. it's an all upside kit for me.
