AK, as always, we're looking forward to pictures and stories. The only thing I love more than writing stories is reading other folks stories.
Ohio, I was using CCI .22 mags.

Re: A squirrel with a family heirloom
I haven't bought .22 mag bullets in years. The CCI's I was shooting was a mistake my wife made when I asked her to pick up some .22's. And my Grandfather had 5 or six boxes of shells that I got with the revolver.

A good hunting story can make a man hungry.Moon Tree wrote: I love fried squirrel. It's only second to elk as my favorite meat. If I were on death row and requesting my last meal, it would be fried squirrel, squirrel gravy, biscuits, over easy eggs and homefries.
Well done, Moon Tree.

How big are these squirrel yall get? The biggest one I ever seen in Utah is still well under 1 pound.

Re: A squirrel with a family heirloom
Bible, gray squirrels here in KY will weigh about 2 lbs. live weight. Fox squirrel/red squirrels will weigh 3 lbs. I find one. While I could easily eat 4 or 5 gray squirrel at one setting, I find 1 squirrel, fried potatoes and green bean will make a good meal. OR, 1 gray squirrel, squirrel gravy, a couple of biscuits and a couple eggs will get any day started off on the right foot.

Re: A squirrel with a family heirloom
Jay, I remember having my mom's squirrel dumping a few times. She used the tougher fox squirrels. If I remember correctly, squirrel dumping are pretty darn good. I just suck at making dumpings. But, you got me wanting to google dumpings and try some with a tough old fox squirrel. Thanks for the post.

Re: A squirrel with a family heirloom
OK you guys, it's on my bucket list, ONE DAY, I will travel far, on 2, 3 or 4 wheels or train,,,,,I will come to the land of Jaybm, and Moon Tree in hopes of eating a squirrel.
I must add, as a traveler, I have been only one place with food choices worse than Utah.
