Took the Mule, AKA Wizard 45-70 and my Schmidt-Ruben long rifle out yesterday. Biggest problem other than the Mule's sights was keeping the sweat out of my eyes. It was 84 at the range with a feels like of 92. I was able to pretty much confirm to my satisfaction that the failure to extract with Mule is case brand related, he doesn't seem to like W-W cases non extracted/ejected while all the Starline cases tried to exit the back of the range. Also found that a Past shied is handy when doing testing/development with the 45-70.
The S-R was as always fun to shoot tried some Wolf Gold at 50 yards it seem sufficiently accurate for deer sized critters. Will have to try it at 100 next time. It's a challenge, tiny notch, small blade and 300 meter minimum battle sight range, but fun.
Make smoke,
A war horse and the mule went a shootin'

Know a feller local who's a Schmidt-Ruben fan.
Got a Swede Mauser off him a while back as he didn't like it in compare.
