Sixty degrees and windy but heck I just had to go !

My main purpose was to get some time with the EDC just in case.
LOL ... used a paper target at ten yards and after a few tries I couldn't
" see " the results. Age is taking it's course ! Retrieved my target and
lo and behold ... could account for 15 hits out of 20 although not the
most accurate the lil LCR would get the job done if ever called for.


Had replaced the original Tamer grip with that Hogue grip and I have
to say my hand hurt after 20 rounds down range.

Shot the remaining BadMan poly plated bullets in the Rossi and
wasn't disappointed with them. I'd buy more when I get low on
the other brands I have on hand. This at 75 yards,


Not too many shooters there but I watched a young lady obliterate
the X ring shooting a Baby Glock 9mm. I'm not a Glock fan but I
was impressed.

Sooo, I'm still kicking just not as high as before ... Jim

Nice day at the range. I bring a small pair of binoculars to see my hit's from 38's at anything over 10 yards, even with reactive targets.

That 75 yard target looks pretty good to me for a "windy day", especially shooting "specials"!
As for the LCR, I think your reasoning is sound concerning it's application .... I consider my .38 snubbies to be mostly "get the heck off of me" tools

Or as our instructor said " up your nose gun ".

I reloaded some .38's with Trail Boss and will definitely
have a splattering target with me the next trip. Maybe
the " feel " will be a little softer ?

I do love the Trail Boss loads in the .38 spl with wadcutters. Trail Boss has a lot of good applications (I like reduced .357 and .44 mag loads) and I wish it was still priced like it was a few years ago.

That's still a nice looking handgun.
I want one of the .357s but they are heavier framed. I doubt I'd be using the magnums in it but I'd like the option.

Follow-up, the good and bad ! Some days are like that I suppose.

First the bad ... I shot a mix of Barry's and Oregon Trail 158g with the Rossi
and just couldn't zero in on the diamond X ring at 75 yards. Kind of disappointing
so I quit wasting ammo and moved to the pistol station.

The good ... Trail Boss powder sure tamed the LCR .38sp. A larger silhouette
splattering target took care of the previous vision problem and I had some
decent groups.

Archer I kind of wished I had gotten the .357 but I wanted the light weight
for EDC. I have the DW .357 with four inch barrel that fills that need. I had
a Smith .38sp Airweight stubby and it was just not a range gun and I swapped
it as part payment on a Sig .45.

Well to wrap it up ... several guys shooting Glock 9mm sure makes a person
think. They were good ! Could have been a father / son combo.
These didn't reload so I gathered a BUNCH of once fired brass to
support my itch for a 9mm EDC. I've been looking at a Taurus PT709 Slim
but just can't take the plunge.

Time to think about the next trip and maybe load some Extreme bullets.

My favorites in 9mm are the CZ-75/85 series pistols, The Browning High Power and the Sig P228/229 series guns.
Other good choices are the Sig P226 and Sig 2022 and various 1911s in 9mm.

The Glock is a reliable reasonably priced option but I have never quite warmed up to them. I did own a .45 ACP variant for a short period of time but after 1 range trip I essentially sold it off to finance a Smith 17.

I've got a couple buds with the .357 LCR. One had the .38 first and I think either traded it in on the .357 or got the .357 later in addition. I like the light weight of the .38 LCR but I don't think the .357 is that much heavier most of the time.
