Probably so. Had my first range trip today, we met up with a friend and her new Glock. Indoor range but not terribly load like some older ones I've been on. Had to leave the aids off as they would work comfortably under either set of muff I have. What I want is a set big enough to have the units in the ear opening so I can hear range commands and also have conversations with fellow shooter. My one set is electronic and may work, but when I tried them the batteries were dead so I don't even know if the muffs themselves work yet.

It was a good day I worked some hand guns I haven't shot in a while plus some old friends and constant companions and Linda is even more enamored of the P238. Bessides any day at the range etc.

3 Wheels, thank you for bringing this up. I gonna ask if the insurance covers these in any part, probably dont.

For the record ... Medicare doesn't.

Mine doesn't and as Jay pointed out medicare doesn't. One of the ironies, I suppose, of medicare is that hearing loss is said to be a contributing factor in onset of dementia which ultimately is more costly than a decent set of hearing aids. Just another proof that governments in general can't do anything right.

On a side note I finally bought a set of electronic muffs. They fit over the ears with the aids and they work with them. It was nice to hear what was going on around me at the range yesterday.

This is encouraging to read as my right ear is under 50%. Constantly I am having to say to my wife while I am driving "you have to get louder... old tank crewman here".

To the OP of this thread - glad that you found some relief with your hearing. As a 52-year-old, I still think I'm a kid - but my dad who is only 76 has had issues with tinnitus for many years. He ended up with a set of hearing aids that he can use when he wants, and needs to. I know that - all joking about selective hearing aside - my hearing is OK at present, but at some point I will be doing the same.

You all ever go to a county fair, and see those Kiwanis Club or Rotary Club "portable hearing test trailers" that they offer free hearing tests for? (apologies for my grammar)
This is where I went and got checked last couple of years, and so I know it sounds weird but it's free and so far so good.

I don't know if any of y'all here go to such things, but rural county fairs sometimes have these "hearing trailers" so you can get checked for free. Worth a try!
