Starline brass 41 Special

Post by donhuff »

Did anyone else see this.

They are making 41 special brass, like 38 and 44 special. Seems odd to make brass for a gun that doesn't even exist.

I saw it too. My only thought was that they must be catching up on the popular brass in order to be spending production time time on such a small group. A year or two ago there was a waiting list for anything that I wanted (.357, 38, 44 mag, 380, etc...)

I just got 500 360 dan wesson brass from them and they would not have made that if they were not pretty caught up on the most popular stuff.

I read on castboolits site that the 41 special is fairly popular, but is a specialty thing. A few of the custom gun makers have made guns in 41 special only caliber.

I saw on there that starline had a minimum order of 100,000 brass, before they would make a run. So there must be a good many people out there that have them.

I suspect .41 Sp is mostly for light loads in .41 Mag guns.

I just do not get that, I see nothing at all wrong with down loading magnum brass and would prefer to not have two different kinds of brass for the same gun.

From what I read, a lot of people were getting special only guns for some reason.

+1

Same for .38S with exception of all the mini-carry units like mine.

I guess someone carries a snub .44S or .41S?

Kinda reminds me of that idiot on this forum that's putting 360 DW ammo in a 357 rifle. WHY???

I don't mind having two kinds of ammo for the same gun BUT I'd prefer to have .357 cases and .357 guns to .38 SP even if I'm willing to shoot .38 SP through them. Ditto .44 Mag particularly as .44 SP is often more expensive than the magnums.

If it wasn't for the fact that it's .41 I might be convinced it is the folks who want the shorter cartridge in their lever to get another round in a full tube but I think most cowboy action limits the mag capacity and there's only been two or three .41 levers and they ain't common nor cheap.

How many .41 Redhawks in blue have you seen? Just a weird question.
