My hulls were getting tired, sko I ordered up 250 new Winchester target loads, 8 shot, man these shoot low and slow compared to my reloads, oh well. I will use em for clays, the reload em.

I use the MEC Jr, it cost but I love the Circuit Judge in 410 for small game, 410 cost way less to reload that other shot shells, I get 10 or more uses out of each hull. And I set up my re loader by the Hodgdon Manual and the MEC manual. +guns

What choke is the Circuit Judge?

I don't think it is choked at all as it is referred to as a "straight rifled choke".

It is kind of confusing when you look at the instructions as all the shotshell shooting is done with the "straight rifled choke" and the 45 Colt and .410 slugs with the "Thread Protector Sleeve" in the barrel. I've always wondered if the instructions in the Owner's Manual were correct?

Back to chokes, I think the only shotgun with anything other than a modified choke is the discontinued Turkey Gun which was a long barrelled Single Shot. It used the Briley removable Turkey Chokes but only came with the "Extended".

With the rifling of the barrel a wad column of shot would be spinning as it exits the barrel. I would think the straight choke is used to stop the shot from spinning so much thus holding a tighter pattern.

That's pretty much it. TC did this with the 44 Mag shot barrel. The screw on choke had straight ridges to stop the spin and I suspect break the plastic capsule. It was actually fairly effect, with #8 shot I managed to take a few squirrels out of trees with it.

Make smoke,

I always understood that was the purpose of the so called choke, to stop spin.
I have not had much experience with the Circuit Judge with 4 or 6 shot. 7 and 8 work fantastic for me as the pattern and distance is the same as my 12ga 870, just less bb,,s.
