hey all..new here quick question before heading out to work..anybody know of a good smith to thread my ranch hand barrel in south Carolina..will ship further but would like to stay in me state

hmmm il answer my own question...found a place called upstate armory in Simpsonville..all types of custom work done here..my rossi is now in their hands getting a threaded barrel...

You are probably ok since it is a lever action.
If it were a semi auto I think that would flip it into the realm of a CA Assault weapon unless whatever you are attaching to it got either welded or pinned in place.

ok can anybody tell me which way to unthread the barrel from the receiver....
with the receiver in the vice and the barrel pointing to the right will it unscrew like a nut off a bolt ??

If its a true copy of a Winchester 92 lefty loosie righty tighty with barrel pointed at you looking at receiver. I do suggest you contact steve at steves gun to be sure rossi didn't change that though.

So they are still doing the welded muzzle break thing in California? I thought that died when the assault weapon ban expired. good thing the OP is in SC, not CA then

CA has some really screwy laws that don't really make sense.
IF the barrel length on a long gun is less that 16" they are still welding them nation wide.
Since the Ranch Hand is a handgun that distinction doesn't apply BUT if it was a semi auto pistol I think CA may have banned threaded muzzles with their assault weapon ban. That ban is still in effect even though the Federal one had a sunset. I know I ran into a gunsmith several years ago who said he had to call certain of his customers in and replace their barrels to keep them legal.
