Nice day to walk in the woods

So I grabbed the BPS and headed out to the woods for the first time this year looking for squirrels and deer sign.

It was a nice walk. Saw 2 reds not much bigger than chipmunks a young grey also not worth a shot and one nice grey but the red tail though so too.

Haven't hunted this public area in close to 15 years mostly because it's shotgun only and I prefer one of my 22's for squirrel. Compared to the black walnuts in my yard the ones out there don't have much "fruit' on them and neither did the shag barks. Very few on the ground and not much still on the trees either.

May go out to one of the other areas tomorrow where i can try the red dot on my 10-22.

Make smoke,

The past two days were very nice here, in the sixties at night. Really makes me look forward to the hunting season at hand! Today was back to hot and muggy.

We've been down in the 50's it was 53 when I headed out, but didn't take long to warm up with a near cloudless sky. Looks as if tomorrow will be okay then starting back to the heat and humidity also.

Good Morning Guys ...

Flash woke me to let me know he had " to go " so we're up ( but not for long ).
I might add " better than finding a land mine on the carpet " so I did praise
him.

Cool spell here in the south as well but we're told to enjoy it as it won't last
long. I'm prepped and raring to hit the range. May have to tweak the Red Dot ?
At the least you can expect one of those boring range reports ;)

Later +zzz , Jim
