I just ordered the Rossi Rio 30/30 SS.
I am new to reloading but wanted to start with this rifle. Does anyone have any experience reloading for this rifle?
Looking for load data, pointers ....
Thanks.

Re: Reloading 30/30
I've been using the Hornady 160 grain FTX "Gummy Bear" ammo until I build up some brass.schwasskin wrote:I just ordered the Rossi Rio 30/30 SS.

The stuff is deadly accurate out of my Rossi Rio Grande "blue" model in .30-30 Winchester.
Have a 1.5-4x33mm Bushnell Trophy scope on top.
3-shot groups are < 1" @ 100 yds.
I'll probably continue to reload the "Gummy Bear" bullets when the current supply of factory ammo is used up.
PS: Strip the rifle down and give it a good cleaning before using. The action in mine was full of cosmoline and machining shavings NIB.........the magazine tube was filthy as well.
It cleaned up really well and is now one of my most accurate leverguns.

Very good cartridge to start with. Lot's of data and bullet brand choices. Of course, you will be working with flat points or the pointy bullet that pricedo mentioned because of the magazine tube.

Yes the leverevolution. Those do seem nice from what I've read. But they seem a little pricey to plink with.I've been using the Hornady 160 grain FTX "Gummy Bear" ammo until I build up some brass.
Anyone using Cast?
Is it wise to use gas checks?
Remember Im a newby to reloading...
