Got To The Range Today
Posted: 17 Mar 2015 19:10
After a couple of days with temps in the 80's I forced myself to hit the range.
ha ha. every shooter in the county had the same idea but I lucked out and
got the last lane on the 100 yard range.
Okay. I haven't progressed past the 50 yard mark just to make that clear.
My first effort was with 158g Extreme Plated Bullets RFN over 4.2g Trail Boss.
I was using my Caldwell Rest which is not all that great and my first five rounds
were all over the place. Then I noticed the Range had purchased a few new rests
like these. ( If I can remember how to insert a photo )
I seem to recall some member made a rest using an auto jack.
I managed to grab one as a shooter was turning it in and five rounds were much better
Then using the new rest I switched to Oregon Trail Lazer Cast RFN 158g and I didn't write
the powder and load down when i loaded these . But the difference was very noticeable.
I didn't make any adjustments on the Red Dot at all, the two flyers were all me, very frequent
interruptions with shooters changing targets didn't help. As soon as I got home I ordered that
rest from Natchez and I got my fingers crossed it's the same one. I e-mailed my photo since they
didn't have a photo on their website. They said it was so I'll wait and see. If it is I'll post the #
as it's on sale now, $67 including FedEx shipping.
Temps back to normal tomorrow in the 40's, good while it lasted ... Jim
