Marlin 336 in .35 Rem

I've taken some flack before for saying I want one. I've been told they were poor sellers, the cartridge doesn't bring enough to the table to warrant the additional odd caliber, yadda yadda so on and so forth. I already have a 336 in .30-30 and a couple of Rossi R92's in mainstream calibers. So this would just be an in addition to kind of rifle. I already load my own and cast so ammo won't be a massive concern. And I like the thought of being able to use a .358" handgun bullet mold and load a few up for plinking fun. The rifle would be a pre safety action so I half want it for that reason alone.

I'm about to make a cash offer. Someone tell me why I shouldn't...

If you cast and reload you will never shoot another rifle. Okay, that may be an exaggeration but I find something cool every time I shoot mine. I favor my Texan in 30-30 for a while, then I shoot my 1894C in 357 for a month or two, but when I work up some rounds for my 35 it is just cool as heck. I will close with this, if I had to give up all of my lever guns except one I would probably keep the 35 remington.

Got to agree my 336 in 35 Rem is just plain fun to shoot. I picked it up new at a local Kmart back around 1975. Over time I guess I've shot most of the commercial loading and quite a few hand loads. Before I read that the micro groove barrels would shoot cast bullets I was shooting some of my home cast 357 bullets and some locally commercial cast 180 grainers. My Marlin apparently didn't read that part of the book as a few ground hogs would testify to if they could. Still cant use it here in Ohio for deer and doubt I'll have much chance to go out of state to hunt with it. It is fun on the pistol silhouette range with those 180 gr cast.

Make smoke,

Greetings
The 35 Remington is a great old cartridge. The case is well proportioned to the caliber. Not one of those too fat overbore chunks of brass. Very versatile and you get your moneys worth every time you pop one off. Only thing better is a caliber .38 ! And that does not mean the .35 is bad at all. Get it !

I think I ran into a guy ages ago at the hardware store who had one.
Said he bought ammo by the C-note which at the time was quite a bit of ammo both for the time and since I was lucky to buy mine by the box.

I still tend to buy ammo by the box or three for most calibers but if I'm able to get it by the case I greatly prefer that. Still need to build up a better supply of .243, and .444 for sure and maybe some more .45-70, .30-30 and 6.5x55)

oooh . . . do it. It can be inexpensively re-chambered to .358 winchester. That is just a .308 necked up to .35 caliber, easy reloading step too. A 250 round nose boolit in the .358 makes a powerful woods range round.
