My Alaskan Adventure for Kiwi Hunter

Post by mr surveyor »

o.k. KH, just for you

We hiked 45 miles up the glacier over 5 days, eating nothing but bear meat, snow snakes, and the occasional moose that lost it's way. Incidentally, the snow snakes taste a lot like chicken (if properly cooked). It was a bit of a chore to haul firewood for cooking, but mrs surv did fine as my cooking seemed to lighten the load a bit each day. We did have to knock on the door of one igloo to get directions to our pick-up point on the fourth day (yes ... she insisted), but even with my bad eyes I could see the candy cane pole sticking up at the North pole.

Anyway, my favorite pic out of some 600+ from our little excursion ...

funny coincidence, the trip was for our 40th anniversary which was nearly 8 months earlier, and that pic just happened to be taken on my 60th BD :o .... and yes, I robbed the cradle :D

all right KH.... I'll confess.... mrs surv really didn't have to drag the sled with the firewood and supplies for 5 days. But the pic was made on my 60th BD (and was for our 40th anniversary) :D. And, I guess I have to admit we really weren't very close to Santa's house at the North pole. But, anywhere an East Texas redneck is surrounded by ice in July .... IS the North Pole!

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
