I am not sure if it should go here, or in all other Rossie's, or is even appropriate to bring to forum members attention. I am on the mailing list for CDNN Sports, out of Abilene, TX. They are advertising new blued Taurus PT 1911s for one penny under $400. I have no personal interest in this business. I am just passing along the information I received. I've handled Taurus 1911's, they appear well made, if not a tad sharp on the edges, and certainly seem well featured, but I don't yet own one. I do like 1911's, in any case.

It is more than appropropriate to be posted here! That price definitely has me thinking. When I was developing a cast bullet for the Taurus 45 Autos, they are very over-bored, I borrowed a PT1911 to shoot along with my PT745, PT945, and OSS. All of these shoot well. If you are going to think about cast bullets, you need a really fat bullet as the semi-autos all have a .4565 bore!

All of Taurus' semi-autos are over-bored. My guess is that they use the feature to dump chamber pressure fast (some others do the same). It doesn't matter as much with jacketed bullets but with cast the fit is everything. The 25 ACPs need a .256" bullet, the 32 ACPs a .314", the 9mm Lugers and 380 Autos a .358'. Here is what a jacketed bullet looks like that is going down a Taurus barrel.

Why do you reckon taurus thought it needed such a large bore, when so many other 1911's don't.
