My mosin nagant sporter build
We'll I have been working on this gun for a while, basically just putting parts together that I have ordered but it's still been fun. I really love this caliber because of the versatility and price of ammo so I decided to build me a nice rifle instead of just buying a savage in .308 or some such. It definitely feels like it is "my" rifle and not just one of a million from walmart. So far I have a boyds thumb hole stock, timney trigger, a jmeck scope mount with a bone collector scope. I had a guy make the bent bolt for me also. On the list to do next is cerakote the barrel and receiver. I'm thinkin about doing it in OD green. Anyway, not that interesting but just wanted to share it. Thanks.

Re: My mosin nagant sporter build
I've got a couple buds who love them.
I'm not thrilled with them but they can be fun.
I managed to get a 1917 Enfield (Winchester) and a 1903 Springfield from about the same era.
Looking to pick up a Swedish Mauser in the next couple weeks if I'm lucky.
Probably won't sporterize any of them.

It never takes me more than a few seconds to correct a title and I'm always happy to do it.oldsarge wrote:Ok. The title was supposed to be sporter not spotter. Stupid autocorrect........

Very nice! Mosins are crude and ugly, but I really enjoy tinkering with mine too.

Re: My mosin nagant sporter build
yep, a few years ago I thought about buying a couple of M-N's and three or four of the 880 round tins of ammo ..... just to have, but never got around to it. The other day, my gun shop buddy said he was thinking about buying a "crate" of them .... just to have. I told him he better go ahead and buy a pallet of those 880 round tins of ammo at the same time.
By the way .... is there non-corrosive ammo available?
