Warranty Report

My NIB 92 in .44 would not extract nor eject. I called Rossi in FLA and got a RMA. I sent it in to them and got it back Friday, one month later. The extractor had "excessive play" and was adjusted. The barrel forcing cone was "damaged" and was replaced. Then they put 35 rounds of Winchester 240 gr SP through it. They sent me a target identifying my rifle with 5 rounds in a 2" group bench rested at 25 yards. And they replaced the barrel band screw. No damage to the rifle as a result of the repairs. It function tested flawlessly with snap-caps. I'll get back with a range report but as of now I'm very pleased with CS.

Can't beat that!!! I would change the bottom left line on the target to say 250 yards and claim it as an average day at the range. Might even get someone to buy you a cup of coffee for that one....

The actual hands-on range report will write the final chapter of this saga.

'barrel forcing cone damaged and was replaced' ?!?

I wonder if they replaced the barrel or if they recut a short chamber to the right spec?

I would imagine that they just gauged the current barrel and recut to correct it. Only speaking from a machinists point that had earlier today read some of this on my puter while I was working. I still wonder if there was a work order submited of what was said to be actaully done. IT can help us understand the work to make it right. Keep us posted.

OP here. I don't know what "barrel forcing cone damaged and replaced" means. I just read it off the repair order. I'm a Rossi noob. I thought the "cone" was that ejector collar thingy. Robert in CS called me today asking if I had received the rifle and if it was AOK. I said it did snap caps fine and that I'm headed to the range soon. It never occurred to me to ask what was actually done regarding the "barrel forcing cone damaged/replaced". He left his number and extension if I had any issues after I actually fired it. I'll report back either way and inquire what that forcing cone repair actually involved.
