Why a Ranch Hand?
I'm curious as to the why people go for these guns?
I get the cool factor.
From a practical standpoint what is the advantage of a 'pistol' with a weird grip angle that takes two hands to operate and holds a couple more rounds over a traditional revolver that's faster to reload than the tube feed, can be used single handed and has a 6 to 10 inch barrel OR a 16 or 20 inch rifle that allows a much longer sight radius plus the three point contact to add stability and absorb the recoil.
I've got a buddy who wants a Ranch Hand but the only reason he gives when asked is 'It just LOOKS COOL!'

Re: Why a Ranch Hand?
Saw the show long ago.
I agree cool is enough reason to justify a purchase be it a gun or a bike or whatever.
Somebody had to ask if there was another reason in this case however...

Re: Why a Ranch Hand?
Riding around the area I have some land and a cabin, is the main time I see coyotes. Whether in my truck or my UTV with a cab, the shorter length is much easier to swing out the window and track one of those buggers. I want one in 357 for that reason. Oh yah, and they are cool. DP

LOL, I want one just because. Same reason folks do lots of things.
I'd guess one of these might be easier to shoot accurately with; compared to some handguns. It is definitely shorter than the 16" full stocked long guns I can legally buy here.
Besides, I don't have one.

Re: Why a Ranch Hand?
cool factor is something.. but i got mine since Canadian can't carry handgun in the woods.. and here its concidered a "rifle" here.. a "pistol" in the US.
It have to be overall lenght of 26 inches + to be non-restricted , the Ranch Hand is like 24 inches but Canadian Gun Law still autorized it as a non-restricted.
SO... ? why you ask ?
My Ranch Hand 44 magnum is THE smallest thing i can legally carry in Canada in the woods.
