I've come to like the EGW gear as well and have started using it for a couple of applications. I have one sitting right here next to the computer that was delivered Saturday! It is for a Mossberg 695 slug gun that I acquired.pricedo wrote:I've got some really high quality scope mounting rails from an outfit in PA called EGW (Evolution Gun Works) & I'm going to use one on the 336C.

I find the Weaver bases & supplied screws kinda flimsy & lame compared to the EGW rails.Ranch Dog wrote:I've come to like the EGW gear as well and have started using it for a couple of applications. The EGW rail is attached to the gun with the superior non-slip, hard to bugger Torx screws with the supplied wrench rather than conventional screws with the bugger-prone straight slot heads.
They snug up nice & I see no need for Loctite with these screws.
The rails are a bit thicker but much more sturdy........my rifle hold style & eye "appreciate" a little extra distance off the top of the receiver.
EGW is my GOTO source for scope mounting hardware & I'm using their products on several guns now. EGW has a convenient, user friendly vendor website......no mickey-mouse, insecure emailing of credit card numbers and other identity information useful to hackers who are constantly lurking on the internet.
I won't deal with the luddites who can't be bothered setting up secure infrastructure to process my confidential personal & financial information. Wish some people would give their heads a shake and move on & evolve from the 1950s with the rest of the world.

LaRue sells some excellent mounts but they are mighty proud of them as well.
I like the Sadlak mount on the M1A, Smith Enterprise would probably be my second choice.
Some of the ARMS stuff is decent as well.

LaRue can keep their mounts for the kind of money they're charging........ridiculous is the word that comes immediately to mind.

EGW are gtg so are burris hard to beat for price. My long distance plan is using a millet 15MOA base and performs well fr it's cost.

I know a half dozen guys using their quick release mounts and their long range 20 MOA mounts that have good results out of them no matter what kind of torture they put them through.

Re: Common tools for deburring, smoothing & polishing action
I just got a "Trigger Happy" kit in from Brownells that cost me $89 & change so that's kinda ridiculous too.
I think I'm in the wrong business.........maybe I'll get into the custom gun parts mfg business.
Like the Johnny Paycheck song says, I'll be a "money makin fool".

"Trigger Happy" & "Bear Proof Ejector" kits in.
Brownell spring kit ($6) should be in tomorrow.
The new 336C/35 Rem should undergoing reconstructive surgery soon.
It'll be as slick as eel snot when I'm done.
It's actually "huntable" right now.

I've been hearing good things about the factory Hornady 200 grain FTX "gummy bear" ammo in regards to accuracy and one shot lethality on white-tail deer and larger game.Ranch Dog wrote:What will be your choice of ammo?
Had very good results with it in my guide guns (45-70).
Got 6 boxes on the way.
